Jacques Schrenzel, M.D.
Professor Microbiology University Hospital Geneva

Jacques Schrenzel is founder and Director of the Genomic Research Lab (Geneva University Hospital) and the Director of the Clinical Microbiology Laboratory in the same hospital (HUG). His lab is focused on the investigation of mechanisms underlying Staphylococcus aureus biofilm formation, intracellular survival and antibiotic resistance using genomic technologies – such as microarrays, high-throughput sequencing, bioinformatics and genetic screens, and finally technology transfer to genomic microbiological tests. The Genomic Research Laboratory is also actively involved in the development of methods in metagenomics and their application for medical research and diagnosis. Jacques has hundreds of publications in specialized scientific top edge journals. He is an internal medicine and infectious diseases specialists and completed his post-doctoral specialization in Clinical Microbiology at the Mayo Clinic (Rochester, MN) on molecular microbiology and functional genomics.
